Its main function is to improve internet access and help to create business networks. Sometimes it becomes uncertain with network switches, or network hubs, and modems.

Nowadays, setting up a router is not a big deal. Router manufacturers make it easy for the installation process of their products. I will show this. Most of the router companies offer app-based installation instead of browser-based user interfaces. It’s very simple to use both methods.

To make your network complete, you have to configure the router. Configuring your router in the right ways protects your home network and personal information.

The firewall does not need to be adjusted to communicate with your network components.

Steps to Configure a Router:
Router Configuration:

1st Step: Resetting the device

1 Connecting to the Router

2 All ethernet connections should unplug
Press down the reset button for 15 sec.

2nd Step: Setup Cable

Connect your computer (PC or MAC) to the WAN port, that you will be configured only.

You should not connect the wall port to any port on the Router yet!
DO NOT use the LAN ports.

3rd Step: Accessing Router

At first, with the computer that connected to the Router, open your browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc.)
Enter the IP address found in your wireless settings (Settings>Wi-Fi>Hardware Properties for Windows 10/ Network Preferences for Macs) into the Address Bar of your browser.

Most IP addresses start with 192.168. Push Enter button.
The user name is often blank or “admin”. Passwords are often blank, “admin“, or “password.”
Passwords are often blank, “admin”, or “password.”
Click “OK”

4th Step: Default Screen

5th Step: Configure your Wireless SSID (Password)

Click “Wireless”
then Click “Basic Wireless Settings.”
Enter a name according to your preference into the “Wireless Network Name (SSID)” field
Note down your Wireless Network SSID; it will be needed later.

You should not share your SSID or password with anyone unless you trust them. Users can buck on your credentials and crowd your network.
then click “Save Settings.”

6th Step: With WPA Security Key, Configure Wireless.
To avoid disconnection, you must secure your wireless network. The mode of your Security should be using WPA or WPA-2.

For WPA Security:

Click “Wireless”

Select “WPA Pre-Shared Key” in the “Security Mode” field
Set the “WPA algorithm” to “AES.”
(if available) otherwise, use “TKIP.”
input your WPA Shared Key. It will be between 8 and 32 characters- it is safe. It should be something you can recall easily but very hard to guess.

You may want to note it down for the time being so that you can place it for when you configure your computer to connect to the now-secure access point.
Click “Save Setting

Step 7: Final Cable Setup
At first, Connect your computer (PC or MAC) to the WAN port only, DO NOT use the LAN ports.

Connect to a colored port in your wall (tan/white ports are phone jacks and DO NOT provide internet).

As some locations on campus have been upgraded to a solely wireless system, so do not require a router and therefore have no active ethernet ports.

Step 8: Verification
Restart your computer
From the desktop goto “START” >>> “RUN”, type “cmd” under the Open field, then click “OK”

On Windows: Type “ipconfig /release” into the black screen and push “Enter”, then type “ipconfig /renew” into the black screen and push “Enter.”

On Macs: recheck your Network Preferences to find your updated IP address.

Your IP Address should now start with 169.233.xxx.xxx, if this process is failing. In this case, you should go back to Step 1 and try again.

3. How to use a wifi router

As an information manager a router works between the devices which are connected to the router and the internet. Basically, it’s a device that handles data traffic and takes the internet speed on its best level.

To know what a router offers, you don’t have to be a computer expert but to realize the uses of it.
A router points incoming and outgoing data traffic to the network in the fastest and most systematic way.

So to use the Wi-Fi router, first of all check the cable setup and get everything fixed.

Then you need to connect your device to the router via WiFi. When your router is connected to the device,

You can go online and browse anything you want with a good internet connection. You can browse with more than one device with the same internet by using a router.

4. Router Setup Page

A router setup page is a web page where you can edit all the available options of your Wi-Fi on the website.
You have to log in to your router’s firmware with an internet browser to access the setup page of your router .

Any browser can be used. And at the address field, you will type the IP address of your router. Almost all of the routers use the same address of 192.168.1.1. Although some routers use a different IP address.
If you’re using Windows 10 you first have to go to Settings, after that go to Network and Internet, then go to Status and click View hardware and connection properties.

The screen that will appear will display the details for the different network connections you have.

You will scan the Ethernet or Wi-Fi and look for the Default Gateway settings to find the IP address of your router. When you have the correct IP address, you will type it into the browser’s address field you use, and then you will press Enter.

After you have finished typing your IP address, a screen will appear in front of you asking for your username and password to access the firmware of your router.
Once you get access to your router’s firmware, you will be able to change all the current settings.

Step 1 :
Connect your router port to the power source. Wait a minute for the router to start up.

Step 2 :
Pick your smartphone or tablet and turn on the Wi-Fi connection by connecting to the router’s network. If you can’t find the SSID or network name just look at the device backside and you’ll find the name with a PIN which is basically the Wi-Fi password.

Step 3 :
To connect to the internet network, you’ve to enter that password.

Step 4 :
After connecting to the network, go to the browser of your device and type the IP address in the address bar. If you couldn’t find the default IP address, which is also printed on the backside of the router, check it carefully. And if you still don’t get it, then I prefer installing a network discovery app on your device.

Step 5 :
Completing all the above steps you’ve finally reached the login page where you’ve to type username and password. The default username is ‘admin’ and the password is the network password ( PIN that is printed on the router). Ensure the details before logging in.

Step 5 :
If you are confused and called your DSL broadband service for help, they will usually give you two options. One is ‘Static IP address,’ and another one is ‘ Dynamic IP address. If you choose static, your IP address will be the same as before. And if you choose dynamic, they will provide you a new IP address.

Step 6 :
If you stick with your previous IP address, select the ‘ Specify an IP address option and provide the needed information. But if you have a new IP address, you should enable the latest updates and features by updating the firmware on your router.

Step 7 :
